Study & Design of the Development of Al Emaam Ali Road – 15km

The province of Qatif is one of the most important provinces in the eastern region and comes third in the size of the population after the governorates of Dammam and Khobar on the basis of urban indicators of the Eastern Province Secretariat.

Al Imam Ali Bin Abi Talib road represents great importance to the city of Safwa, where it connects directly to the city of Qatif in the south and the city of Ras Tanura in northern of the study area through the Jubail highway. Al Imam Ali road also links the city of Safwa with the urban of UmSaheq located in the western of Jubail highway.

Al Imam Ali Bin Abi Talib Road is a main collector urban road with average design speed of 70 km/hr and average width of 60 m. Al Imam road breaks through main suburb and collects all the traffic from adjacent urban neighborhood heading to/from two main suburbs which are Al Qatif and Ras Tanura main areas.

Al Imam Ali road challenged with heavy congested restricted geometry segments surrounded with residential areas. Average level of service was fairly low.

IHCG main scope of work was to create all necessary traffic studies defining current operational situation and propose all alternative pathways or operational solutions, in addition to conduct all necessary geometric layout modifications in according to Saudi and international codes.

IHCG undertakes the design of the main segments and intersections with detailed design for traffic signals, marking, signs details in addition to overlay structure design, Geometric layout, new cross section, parking layouts for on-street and available parking lots on the sides of the road. Proposed level of service on the road reached C on most of intersections and segments coming up from F.
